Keep it real! Let’s talk.

My experience is that of a working writer. That is, a writer with a day job or profession outside of
teaching, writing or publishing. I am a Lawyer and an Arbitrator. On a daily basis, I make decisions
that effect people’s lives in ways I can only glimpse. Writing poetry and stories takes me out of the
right and wrong, out of the clear distinction between night and day, and allows me to explore all
shades light and color in-between. I have a favorite light I call “fairytale light.” It happens
sometimes just before dusk and turns everything soft like magic existed. It is moments like this I try
to capture in love and longing poems.

Pauletta Hansel recently asked me to comment regarding the early efforts to publish my poetry. Her
Blog as Hamilton County Library Poet in Residence explored experiences of poets new to the
process, and those with much more water under the bridge.
